History


Established by King Christian IX, this medal was originally awarded to only recognize NCO's and firemen. Since 1923, any individual who was a member of the fire department, whether they are officers, full-time, part-time or volunteers and have served for 25 years may receive this award.

The reverse inscription includes the name of the recipient who was awarded this medal and their rank.

Individuals who have served for 40 years may receive a silver oak leaf clasp on the ribbon, and individuals who have served for 50 years may receive a gold oak leaf clasp on the ribbon.
