History
Established by Queen Margrethe II, this medal is awarded to recognize civil and military Armed Forces personnel, as well as foreigners, who have rendered outstanding services while in combat internationally.
Various missions may be awarded with this medal including Afghanistan, Kosovo, Lebanon, Golf of Aden and the Mediterranean. Along with these different missions there are different ribbons associated with each.
The reverse of this medal includes an inscription that reads the year and place.
When awarded for a second time the recipient may receive a silver oak leaf clasp on the ribbon. When awarded for a third time the recipient may receive a gold oak leaf clasp on the ribbon.
