Established by King Christian X, this medal was instituted to recognize the 100th anniversary of King Frederick VIII's birth, and is awarded to recognize members of the Royal family and Royal servants who served King Frederick VIII.

This medal has an associated clasp the reads, "1843-3 JUNI-1943".
