History
Established by King Christian VII's wife, Queen Caroline Mathilde, in commemoration of the King's birthday, this Order was conferred upon members of the Royal Family, and those that had a strong relationship with the Royal couple.
Both women and men were eligible to receive this Order. Women would wear it on their left breast with a bow, and men on a button hole around their neck.
In present day there is no existing insignia, therefore, all images of the Badge are merely drawings based on the images in the decorated pages of the Order's statutes, and images in paintings of recipients.
This Order became obsolete on January 17, 1772, when the Queen was exiled. This Order was later replaced by the Order of King Christian VII in 1774.
