History

This medal is awarded to reservists for long service.

The original name of the medal is "Maanpuolustusmitali".
It is also popularly known as the "MPM".

Circular bronze medal with a loop for ribbon suspension. On the obverse of the medal is the lion of Finland with the circumscription "PERUSKALLIOMME MAANPUOLUSTUS", Finnish for "Foundation of National Defence". The reverse is plain. On the ribbon is a gold clasp.

The grade of the medal is denoted by the composition of the clasp on the ribbon.
