History


The National Convention opened on September 21, 1792, but is not certain that the Medal for Ushers was instituted on this same day. It is probable that the decision to institute a new medal was made on October 12, 1793.

It is not clear if the composition denotes the rank of the recipient.

The Medal is engraved. The obverse inscription translates to “French Republic, Liberty, Equality,” and the reverse inscription translates to “National Convention, Usher.”

The National Convention Medal is translated from French "Medailles La Convention Nationale."
