The Madagascar Expedition Medal Second Expedition (1894-1895) was created on January 15, 1896 and was awarded to all Officers, soldiers, sailors, and volunteers who took part in the campaign from December 8, 1894 to December 31, 1895. On July 21, 1897, the Medal was extended to units who were stationed in Madagascar from January 1, 1896 to October 31, 1896. It was worn with a ribbon clasp.
The obverse inscription translates to “French Republic,” and the reverse inscription translates to "Madagascar, Honour, Fatherland, 1895."
