History


The Medal for the Universal Exposition was created on June 9, 1899 and is the only official Medal of its kind in France. It was awarded to approximately 4200 workers of the Exposition by the Minister of Commerce and Industry.

The obverse inscription translates to “International Universal Exposition 1900,” and the reverse inscription translates to “French Republic, To The Workers of the Exposition.”

The medal was suspended from a tricolour ribbon.
