History
The Medal of Honour for Navy Health Services was created on July 18, 1947, but was later replaced by the Medal of Honour for Military Health Services on August 30, 1962.
It was awarded to sailors, civil servants of the Department of the Navy, and all others who contributed to health services in the Navy. It was also awarded for devotion to the sick or wounded outside of periods of epidemics.
It is uncertain what distinctions were made between the grades.
The obverse inscription translates to “French Republic,” and the reverse inscription translates to “Devotion, Ministry of the Navy.”
