Physical Description


A Rupert cross constructed of bronze. The obverse bears a central medallion with a crowned Bavarian lion within an oak leaf wreath. The reverse bears a central medallion with the date "1849" within an oak leaf wreath. On a loop for suspension with a green and red striped ribbon.

History


The Commemorative Cross for the Danish War, 1849 was established by King Ludwig II on October 6, 1866. The cross was established to recognize the efforts of the Bavarian troops who fought against Denmark in 1849.
