History

The Alice Association Jubilee Pin was instituted by Grand Duchess Elizabeth, with the consent of her husband, Grand Duke Ernst Ludwig, to mark the 50th anniversary of the foundation of Princess Alice’s charity organization (Alice-Hilfs-Verein) on September 7, 1869. The decoration was conferred upon deserving members of the organization, who helped further the association’s goal of improving social welfare and encouraging female education.
