History

The State Railway Long Service Badge for 25 Years was founded by Grand Duke Ernst Ludwig and was conferred upon individuals who rendered 25 years of meritorious service working for the German state railway. The award was conferred upon individuals who worked in administration, as well as individuals who worked on the railway.

The badge is similar in design to the Prussian Railroad Long Service Decoration. The two badges feature different crowns.
