History

The Military Long Service Decoration was jointly founded by Prince Friedrich of Hohenzollern-Hechingen and Prince Carl Anton of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen as a replacement for the previously used chevrons.

The III Class Bar for 10 Years was awarded to non-commissioned officers and enlisted men to recognize 10 years of long and faithful service.

War years counted for double.
