History

The Long Service Cross was founded by Duke Wilhelm and was conferred upon officers, non-commissioned officers, and enlisted men who had rendered long and faithful service in the Nassau military. In order to receive the award, an individual had to have a history of impeccable conduct.

Before the award was instituted, long service was marked by chevrons.

The Gold Cross for 25 Years was conferred upon officers.

A variant of the cross is composed of bronze gilt.
