The Faithful Service Decoration was instituted by Adolf Hitler on January 30th, 1938, to reward public service employees for long and faithful service. The Decoration was conferred upon individuals who worked for the railway, post office, or in the civil service.

The Special Class grade was conferred upon individuals who had worked in the same role for 50 years.
