History
The 1939 Star of the Grand Cross was planned, but never awarded. A prototype of the award was discovered in Austria at the end of the war, and is now part of the collection in the Museum of the West Point Military Academy. It is believed that the award was intended for Reichsmarschall Hermann Göring.
The Cross resembles the "Blücherstern" of Imperial Germany.
