History
Following the regulations of November 24, 1934, a field cap (also referred to as overseas cap) for both summer and winter wear was introduced for all members of the German Youngsters. It was made from coarse black wool.
This new cap came in "Schiffchen" (little ship) form and was usually worn without any insignia. During the summer it was to be worn cocked over the left eye, during winter it was to be centered.
On July 30, 1937, this cap was forbidden for further use and replaced by the HJ summer field cap.
