History
An unofficial DJ membership badge, worn on the left breast pocket, was introduced at an unknown time prior to 1933.
It is a round metal and enamel badge that shows a black field with a silver-coloured swastika, with a superimposed red circle with a silver-coloured Siegrune in the centre. The 1st pattern has the letter “D” on the left, a “J” on the right, and a “V” on the bottom. On the 2nd pattern, the “V” was discontinued.
In official regulations from 1933, the HJ diamond badge was introduced for wear for members of the HJ and the DJ alike. However, the older unofficial DJ badge was still sometimes worn after this to show “veteran” status.
