History
Cuff titles were similar to armbands, except often stating a more specific and specialised purpose of the wearer. They were significantly smaller than armbands, didn’t necessarily go all the way around the arm, and were worn on the lower part of the left sleeve.
Members of the HJ who were serving in the Landdienst (Rural Service) wore a cuff title with the words “Landdienst der HJ” in silver-grey on black. This was changed to “Germanischer Landdienst” once the program was expanded to include non-Germans.
The Landdienst was a program for children from urban areas to serve in a more rural setting for a period of time. This was done so they would learn to appreciate the daily lives of farmers and food producers, as well as the concept of nature.
