History
The SA (Sturmabteilung, storm detachment) was established in 1921 as a paramilitary protection squad of the NSDAP. The members of the SA were tasked with protecting party leaders at political rallies and meetings from the paramilitary forces of the opposing political factions. The SA was first utilised on November 4, 1921 at a meeting held in Munich’s "Hofbräuhaus" beer hall. The organisation was banned after the failed putsch in 1923 and was reactivated in February 1925.
There is an unidentified belt buckle that has been attributed to the honour guard of the Feldherrnhalle monument in Munich, but this has yet to be conclusively proven.
The buckle measures 63x47mm and is rectangular with a stamped pebbled field. On it, there is a Feldherrnhalle style eagle emblem on a round pebbled field, surrounded by an open oakleaf wreath held together at the bottom by a bow and ribbon, and encircled by a rope-like pattern. The reverse can be found marked "A&S Ges. Gesch. RZM (single ring(/17" or "RZM (double ring) M 4/22".
