History
The German Guard Division (Deutsche Schutzdivision) was formed in early 1919 from former members of the 4th Army Corps. In April, it was transformed to become Reichswehr-Brigade 25, which was disbanded on October 1, 1919.
Around the same time, the commander, Generalmajor von der Lippe instituted a commemorative badge for especially loyal and meritorious members of the division. There is no additional information about the institution of the award.
The badge was made of bronze and is eight-sided. The obverse features the collar insignia of the German Guard Division, and upright sword, stuck through an oak leaf wreath.
The reverse features the inscription "DIE DEUTSCHE SCHUTZDIVISION IHREN BEWÄHRTEN MITKÄMPFERN FÜR GESETZ U. RECHT 1919" (from the German Guard Divsion to its tried and tested fighters for law and justice 1919).
