History

In 1966, the Customs and Finance branches of the government were merged into a single entity. This resulted in the unification of the Finance Guards Medal, 1951-1966 with the Customs Guards Medal, 1961-1966.

The new medal adopted the form of the Finance Guards Medal, 1951-1966, but it features the image of the staff of mercury within the flag of Hungary at the bottom of the obverse medallion.

It was awarded to guards in recognition of long service within the Customs and Finance department.

The Silver Medal was awarded for 10 years of service.
