This Medal was conferred upon Hungarian citizens who had rendered meritorious service in their field of labour, and whose work had promoted the dissemination and consolidation of socialist ideology.

The Type I medals feature the inscription "SZOCIALISTA MUNKAERT," on the obverse. This Medal was conferred upon 858 recipients.
