History

The Garda United Nations Service Medal was awarded to a select few members of the Garda Síochána in recognition of overseas service with the United Nations.

The Gold Medal features an obverse inscription that translates to "Overseas Service," and a reverse inscription that translates to "Irish Police Force, For Peace, United Nations."
