History

The United Nations Peacekeepers Medal is awarded to active and retired members of the Permanent Defence Force and Chaplaincy Service for service in a United Nations mission or a United Nations mandated mission. It may also be awarded posthumously to next-of-kin for those killed while on assignment. It cannot be awarded more than once to the same recipient.

The Silver Medal features a reverse inscription appears in Irish and English.
