This Cross was established by the Ministry of Defence to reward Italian military and civilian personnel who render service in Afghanistan. The Cross is awarded for a minimum of 15 days of continuous service from November 7, 2001, onward, in a mission in Afghanistan, such as in Enduring Freedom or the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF).
