The Medal of Merit for Civil Defence was established by Grand Duke Jean by Grand Ducal Decree on December 4, 1987. It is awarded to Civil Defence volunteers in recognition of long and faithful service.
The III Class Medal features an obverse inscription that translates to "Altruism, Solidarity, Devotion," and a reverse inscription that translates to "Civil Defence Merit."
