History

The Wedding Medal (2002) was established in commemoration of the marriage of Prince Willem-Alexander to Maxima Zorreguieta. It was awarded to those involved in or present at the ceremony, including employees of the Royal House, guests, and military escorts.

The Silver Medal features a reverse inscription that represents the date of the ceremony (February 2, 2002) and translates to “Two Two Two Thousand Two.” Approximately 12700 medals were awarded.
