History
The Red Cross Commemorative Cross (1940-1945) was established by the Dutch Red Cross in 1950. It was awarded to Dutch Red Cross volunteers and workers in recognition of meritorious service during the German occupation in the Second World War. It was also awarded with an “INDONESIE 1945-1950” clasp in recognition of service in Indonesia during the post-WWII period.
The Silver Cross features an obverse inscription that translates to "The Dutch Red Cross." Approximately 10700 were awarded, with approximately 2000 having been awarded with the "INDONESIE 1945-1950" clasp.
