History
The Medal of the Princess Irene Brigade was established in 1941 to promote physical education in the Royal Netherlands Brigade of Princess Irene. This Brigade was composed of Dutch military personnel and civilians who had fled to the United Kingdom at the outbreak of the Second World War. While in the United Kingdom, they trained extensively for the invasion of the continent.
Small number clasps were awarded for repeated citations.
The Bronze Medal features an obverse inscription that translates to "For Proficiency," and a reverse inscription that translates to "Royal Netherlands Brigade Princess Irene."
It is estimated that between 12-19 Bronze Medals were awarded, although it is uncertain exactly how many were produced.
