The Naval Coast Guard Long Service Medal was established by Royal Decree in 1926 as a replacement for the Military Coast Guard Long Service Medal. It was permanently discontinued in 1945.

The Gold Medal (for 36 Years) features a reverse inscription that translates to "For Loyal Service, Naval Coast Guard."
