History


The Red Cross Medal was established by Royal Decree in 1910. It was awarded in recognition of meritorious service rendered to the Dutch Red Cross. It could be awarded with a "BALKAN 1912-1913" clasp (instituted on February 10, 1913) and/or an "ETHIOPIE 1935-36" clasp (instituted on June 8, 1936).

A total of 205 Medals have been awarded- 98 with the "BALKAN 1912-1913" clasp and 9 with the “ETHIOPIE 1935-36" clasp.

The Silver Medal features a reverse inscription that translates to "For Loyalty and Devotion.”
