History
Established by King Olav V, in commemoration of the 100 year anniversary of King Haakon VII's birth, this Medal was conferred upon the Royal Family, members of the Royal Court, foreign ambassadors in Oslo, members of the government who were in exile in London from 1940-1945, who were alive at the time of the commemoration, close associates of the King, and other individuals of equivalent rank.
The medal was conferred with an associated clasp that reads "1872-1972". The clasp was manufactured by J. Tostrup, in Oslo.
The design of the medal is identical to the Haakon VII's Commemorative Medal, Haakon VII's Silver Jubilee Medal (1905-1930), and Haakon VII's Golden Jubilee Medal (1905-1955) (See NOR129, NOR130 and NOR131, respectively, in Medals & Decorations for more information on these medals), although these medals are differentiated by the clasps they are conferred with.
