History
Established by King Olav V, in commemoration of the death of King Haakon VII, this Medal was conferred upon Royal Family and individuals who had rendered services in relation to funeral services of the King.
The medal is conferred with an associated clasp that reads "1 OKTOBER 1957". The clasps were manufactured by J. Tostrup in Oslo.
The design of the medal is identical to the Haakon VII's Silver Jubilee Medal (1905-1930), Haakon VII's Golden Jubilee Medal (1905-1955), and Haakon VII's Centenary Medal (See NOR130, NOR131, and NOR133 respectively, in Medals & Decorations for more information on these medals), although these medals are differentiated by the clasps they are conferred with.
The Gold Medal (with crown) was mostly conferred upon members of the Royal Family.
