History
This Medal was conferred upon Norwegian and allied Armed Forces personnel, and civilians, who have contributed to Norway during WWII, through commendable actions, but did not qualify for the King Haakon VII Freedom Cross (see NOR106 in Medals & Decorations for more information).
An additional version of this Medal was instituted in 1988, and was conferred in 1989. This version was predominantly conferred to Merchant Marines who had rendered long service during WWII, who had not been conferred the initial version.
This Medal may be conferred posthumously.
The Obverse design of this medal consists of King Haakon VII's royal monogram, and a "V", which signifies victory.
