History

Established by King Oscar II, this Medal was conferred upon farmers, and individuals in public agricultural management, and those in the food industry, who had rendered meritorious service to Norwegian agriculture.

There are two known types of this medal. The first type was conferred only in gold and silver, and consisted of an obverse design of King Oscar II's royal portrait, with a crown surmounting the medal. The second type was conferred in gold, silver, and bronze and consisted of the royal monogram of King Oscar II on the obverse, with no surmounting crown, and "1877" on the reverse inscription.
