History

This Medal was conferred by the Ministry of Trade and Industry, as recommended by the Norwegian Maritime Directorate. It was conferred upon individuals for bravery, valour, and resourcefulness when saving a life at sea, or other comparable extraordinary actions rendered at sea.

The obverse inscription translates to "Kingdom of Norway". The reverse inscription translates to "For Rescue at Sea".
