History

Awarded by the Norwegian Nansen Fund, this Medal is conferred upon scientists of Norwegian citizenship or scientists residing permanently in Norway, who have rendered significant contributions to research on an international scale.

This Medal was officially approved as a Norwegian decoration by the King on April 25, 2007.

This medal may also be known as the Nansen Medal for Outstanding Research.
