History

This Medal was conferred by the Norwegian Defence Association in recognition of distinction in sports with association to the Defence.

An individual may only be conferred this Medal once, and initially in silver. If the recipient distinguishes themselves for an additional time a silvered star shaped clasp is added on the ribbon.

If the individual distinguishes themselves for a third time, the Medal is conferred in gold, and again, can only be conferred once, and then with a gold star shaped clasp on the ribbon.
