    The Soviet 40th Anniversary Medal was established by the Soviet government in 1985 but approved for wear by Queen Elizabeth II in 1994. The Bronze Medal was awarded to British and Canadian Forces who served in Royal Navy and Merchant ships on Arctic convoys during the Second World War.

    The Medal features a reverse Russian inscription that translates to, "40th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941- ...  1945."
