History

The Territorial Force Medal was instituted by King George V by Army Order in 1920 and awarded to members of the Territorial Force and Territorial Staff Nursing Service who have provided overseas service since August 4, 1914, or 4 years prior to August 4, 1914, but have returned prior to September 30, 1914, or who have served overseas between August 11, 1914 and November 11, 1918. Recipients of the 1914 or 1914-1915 Star were ineligible for the Territorial Force War Medal. The Territorial Force War Medal is the rarest First World War campaign medals with approximately only 33 944 Medals issued.
