The Drummond Castle Medal was presented by Officials from the British Embassy in Paris on behalf of Queen Victoria to reward citizens of Brest, Ushant and Molene for assisting in the rescue of the SS Drummond Castle on June 16, 1896. The Medal was also awarded in recognition of acts of humanitarianism and generosity during the rescue and assistance in the burial of victims.
