History

The Automobile Association Service Cross was instituted in 1956. The Silver Cross was awarded in commemoration of the Association's Golden Jubilee to AA patrolmen and other uniformed members in recognition of conspicuous acts of bravery performed in the face of an imminent risk of personal injury whilst on duty or in an action related to duty. It is estimated that only 15 Crosses were awarded.

The Cross was accompanied with a monetary award.
