History


The Queen's Medal for Champion Shots of the New Zealand Naval Forces was instituted by Queen Elizabeth II by Royal Warrant on July 9, 1958. The Medal is awarded annually for marksmanship in the annual New Zealand Naval Forces competition. Awards were made retrospectively to January 1, 1955.

A clasp inscribed with the date of the award is issued with the Medal. Additional clasps are awarded to denote subsequent awards.

The Medal features a Latin inscription on the reverse which translates to "Victory Loves Care."
