History

The Shanghai Municipal Police Distinguished Conduct Medal was instituted in 1924 and awarded in 2 classes to officers and men of the Municipal Police Force. Recipients of the I Class award received a Silver Medal while recipients of the II Class award received a Bronze Medal. It is estimated that approximately 223 Medals were awarded until 1942.

A clasp featuring a superimposed Municipal crest was issued to denote subsequent awards.
