History
The Uganda Independence Medal was instituted by Queen Elizabeth II in 1963 and was awarded in commemoration of Uganda's Independence to members of the armed forces, police force, and local government. The Medal was also awarded to military and police personnel who served on October 9, 1962, and civil servants, government employees and other citizens of Uganda who have rendered outstanding service.
