History
The Gothic Cross Insignia was worn by Field Bishops and Army Chaplains. Initially it was silver-coloured for both ranks, but in 1943 the cross for the Field Bishops was changed to gold-coloured.
The insignia was placed between the eagle insignia and cockade insignia. It was usually made of metal, although embroidered versions have been observed on occasion as well.
