History

Most uniform items the members of the DJ (Deutsches Jungvolk, German Youngsters) wore were the same that were worn by Hitler Youth members. A few items, however, were specifically designed for members of the DJ.

The uniform of the German Youngsters was first regulated on November 10, 1934.

The DJ Leader Service Jacket was introduced in a regulation from February 12, 1937, which was effective March 27. It is a dark blue and waist long jacket with aluminum buttons. It was worn by the ranks of Fähnleinführer and above on a district staff, and Jungbannführer and above at Jungbann level.

A regulation from April 9, 1937 stated that it was to be worn with HJ shoulder straps instead of the DJ strap. Furthermore, instead of the DJ sleeve disc, the regular HJ armband should be worn.
