History
The pennants and flags of the HJ were used to represent the organisation at parades and events, or to represent a specific unit or Leader of the HJ.
Small pennants were commonly used for events and as decorations. About these individual versions there is limited information.
Prior to 1933, there were lots of different flag designs, as there were no regulations for standardisation yet. The flags were often homemade and rather crude in appearance.
At the Nuremberg rally of 1929, participating boys were awarded the first proper HJ flags, the so-called HJ Gaufeldzeichen. It shows a black sword crossed with a black hammer on a red field.
