History

In general, the uniforms of the male Hitler Youth members consisted of a top, a neckerchief and woggle – but a tie for officers –, bottoms, a belt, knee socks, and shoes or boots.

The twill blouse was introduced in a regulation from August 31, 1935. It replaced the standard long brown shirt and was worn by all male members of the Hitler Youth.

It is a waist-length jacket with a fall-down collar. There are two pleated breast pockets with a buttoned angled flap. The cuffs are buttoned fold-back ones with a metal button, which is exposed only at the outside. The blouse is closed by two brown sew-on buttons, one at the waistband and one at the neck, and three exposed brown tagua nut buttons down the front. There are five metal belt hooks at the waistband, either in grey, silver, or gold colour, depending on the rank of the wearer, and a brown cloth belt loop in the center of the back.

Buttons for the shoulder boards are matte grey for all ranks, except for Bannführer and above, including those on a Gebiets Staff, who wore silver-coloured buttons, and Bannführer and above members of the RJF Staff, who wore gold-coloured buttons.
